Dichtament® IWL Chloride free, Liquid integral waterproofing compound Application Notes General Dichtament® IWL is an integral waterproofing admixture for concrete with good plasticizing properties. It does not contain any chloride and can also be used as an admixture for pre-stressed concrete. The mixing of Dichtament® IWL in the concrete brings about contraction of capillaries thereby rendering the concrete dense and waterproof. Dichtament® IWL is suitable for usage in production of waterproof concrete in accordance with DIN 1048 (German Industrial Standard No 1048) and similar relevant standards. It conforms with IS 2645. Application Addition of Dichtament® IWL in the concrete mix allows the reduction of about 15% mixing water without altering the workability of the mix. This property of Dichtament® IWL makes it possible to control and maintain the water cement ratios as low as possible, which is of considerable importance in the preparation of watertight concrete. Dichtament® IWL brings about contraction of capillary pores and increases density of concrete rendering it optimally watertight. The addition of Dichtament® IWL in the concrete results in the formation of homogenous and evenly distributed cement binder, which brings about efficient binding of aggregates. The homogenous cement gel prevents the likely settlement of heavy coarse aggregates and checks the phenomenon of bleeding in fresh concrete The results of the laboratory tests carried out in accordance with DIN 1048C (German Industrial standards No 1048) for the testing of waterproof concretes reveal that the depth of penetration of water was considerably lowered by addition of Dichtament® IWL. Instructions for Use Dichtament® IWL should be mixed with gauging water or can be added to concrete during the process of mixing. Mixing should be continued for at least one minute after the addition of Dichtament® IWL. The gauging water should be properly adjusted taking into account the water reduction brought about due to the presence of Dichtament® IWL. Dichtament® IWL should be added at a rate of 0.3 to 0.5% of cement weight subject to minimum of 1kg/m3 of the concrete mix. However, the exact quantity of Dichtament® IWL to be admixed in production of waterproof concrete conforms particular standards is best determined by conducting preliminary site tests.

Surface must be damp for application of Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system, concentrate. New concrete After forms are stripped, acid etch or sand blast / water blast to facilitate penetration of crystals formed during the chemical reaction. Surface must be left damp for application on Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system. Construction joints, cold joints and non-leaking joints greater than 0.25mm wide must be cut in V-groove shape and fi lled with Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system in mortar consistency. Mixing For best results, clean, potable water should be added to Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system concentrate. Application Existing concrete 3 parts of powder shall be added to 1 part of clean and mixed thoroughly with a slow speed drill equipped with a paddle. For larger batches, mixing shall be done with a mortar mixer. Do not mix more material than can be used in 20 minutes @ 270C, 50% R.H. If mixture thickens, it shall be restirred to reduce consistency. Extra water should not be added. Curing and Protecting Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system application must be kept moist for a minimum of 48 hours. After initial set, moist curing, using continuous water spray is recommended. Treated surfaces shall be fog sprayed 3 to 4 times daily for the 48 hour period. For warmer climates, more frequent spraying may be required. It is important to keep the Brushbond TGP* crystalline waterproofi ng system moist to allow the crystal formation to occur. The surfaces shall be protected from foot traffi c for 48 hours or heavy traffi c for 7 days.
