Cross LAMINATED SBS SELF ADHESIVE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE Description Dr. Fixit Samshield XL is a SBS self adhesive waterproofing membrane based on a tropical grade of polymer modified bitumen. The bitumen compound is laminated onto an impervious, non-perforated, HDPE Valeron® film. The membrane is protected on the self adhesive side with a silicone coated release film. Typical Applications Dr. Fixit Samshield XL used as waterproofing and damp proofing intended for concrete protection. Method of Application Application procedure may vary slightly depending upon site conditions. The general recommended guidelines for the application of the self adhesive waterproofing system are as follows: 1 SURFACE PREPARATION The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil and grease. All surface imperfections, protrusions, structurally unsound and friable concrete must be removed and repaired with a suitable concrete repair mortar. 2 PRIMING Apply Dr. Fixit Torchshield Primer @ 4-6 sq.mtrs./litre to a clean, smooth and dry surface by brush or roller. Allow the primer to dry prior to the application of the membrane. As the viscosity of the primer is low, it easily penetrates into the concrete pores which promote the adhesion between the membrane and the concrete surface. In addition to that the primer also acts as a binder for the dust which gets accumulated on the concrete surface even after cleaning. 3 ALIGNMENT Start the installation of all membrane plies from the low point, so that the flow of water is over or parallel to the plies, but never against the laps. Substrates should be surface dry and not suff er, or be likely to suff er, from rising dampness. If necessary, suitable damp-proof membranes should be installed to prevent this. Substrates should not have a moisture content greater than 5% at any time during the installation.

Method of application Surface preparation • • Concrete substrate must be sound of sufficient compressive strength of min 20 MPa and pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm The moisture in the concrete floor must be less than 5% with no chance of any rising moisture or potential osmosis problems arising from the concrete. • • • Substrate should be levelled and clean without any bond inhibiting substance, like dust, dirt, grease, oil, laitance or loose particles. Laitance and deposits on concrete floor must be removed mechanically using rotary grinding equipment to achieve a rough textured surface. For old concrete substrates, weak concrete must be removed and surface defects must be treated based upon the contaminant on surface. (For detailed description refer to product data sheet of weberprim Epox 501). Crack treatment • • • • All shrinkage and non-moving cracks must be cut open in V groove. Cracks less than 2 mm thickness should be f illed with weberwall crackbond. Cracks greater than 2 mm should be repaired with cement sand mix modified by webertec SBR. Filled cracks must be coated with a coat of weberprim Epox 501 after a period of 6 hours extending 50 mm on either side of crack. Fillet preparation • • • • All horizontal and vertical joints must be f illed with 50 mm x 50 mm fillet. First apply a bond coat by mixing 1 part of cement and 1 part of webertec crete. While the bond coat is wet, lay 50 mm x 50 mm fillet using cement sand mortar admixed with webertec crete. The fillet must be allowed to stand for minimum 12 hours to gain strength and dry completely.

Cebex 200 a plasticising and hydrogen free expansion grout admixture is supplied as a powder admixture. Cebex 200 allows the use of a reduced water / cement ratio with consequent increased strengths and durability. The expansive medium counteracts the natural settlement and plastic shrinkage of the grout and aids stability and cohesion.
